LONE STAR
We are a Texas organization for Texas families.
CHRISTIAN
We are a Christian organization with high standards for our leadership, athletes, and families that align with scripture.
HOMESCHOOL
We are a homeschool organization whose athletes must meet defined eligibility criteria.
ATHLETICS
We are currently baseball-focused, but recognize a growing demand for high quality homeschool athletics programs in North Texas.
We commit to fielding teams comprised of high-level athletes who are driven to succeed, as evidenced by their coachability, hard work on and off the field, and dedication to their team.
We commit to fielding teams comprised of athletes with strong moral character who exhibit Christian values by their words, attitudes, and actions. And we commit to hold our leadership to the same high standards.
We commit to serve our athletes and families with excellence. And we expect the same from our athletes and families.
We commit to facilitating a family-friendly environment at all LSCHA events, where parents and siblings are always welcome.
We commit to honest, straightforward, transparent communication, always treating athletes and parents with respect as adults.
We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and these are one in nature, attributes, and perfection.
We believe that man was originally created in the image of God; but that he fell from this sinless state through sin and therefore possesses a nature of sin.
We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin.
We believe that God created the human race, male and female, and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one’s birth gender is immoral and therefore sin.
We believe that, as promised in the Old Testament, the eternal Son of God came into the world to show God to men and become the redeemer of a lost world. To this end He was born of a virgin and received a human body and a sinless nature.
We believe that He was perfect, suffering life's temptations and trials yet He was sinless. He retained His absolute deity, while He was completely man.
We believe that He voluntarily became the sacrifice for the sin of the world by His death on the cross and that He arose on the third day and reigns now in Heaven interceding for us.
We believe that, due to sin, no one can enter the Kingdom of God except by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
We believe that our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of Jesus Christ.
We believe that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God,” by which we understand that men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the Holy Bible, which is without error in its original state.
We believe that, as Christians, we are to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. We realize that we still possess an old sin nature, but, that in Christ, we also possess a divine new nature; and that a constant warfare exists within our lives. We know that as we supply the old nature with fleshly interests it grows and becomes dominant and, conversely, as we supply the new nature with spiritual interests it becomes dominant and also grows.
We believe that Christ will return to receive to Himself all those who are His. We also believe that this is the blessed hope set forth in Scripture and that we are to be constantly looking for and desirous of this, Christ’s return.
LSCHA ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Lone Star Christian Homeschool Athletics (LSCHA) operates grade-based athletic programs for homeschooled students. Varsity teams may include athletes in grades 9-12. Junior varsity teams may include athletes in grades 8-12. Middle school teams may include athletes in grades 6-8.
To be eligible to participate in a LSCHA program, athletes must:
Be “homeschooled,” receiving parent-directed education primarily in the home, where the parents select or approve curriculum, course materials, and study schedules; select tutors, correspondence courses, videos courses, online courses, and similar resources; and ultimately set the requirements for graduation, and determine when the requirements have been met and a diploma should be issued.
Live at home with a parent or legal guardian in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, or Denton County, Texas, or a county contiguous to those four counties.
Not be enrolled in more than 9 hours of dual-credit courses in a semester.
Not graduate from a homeschool, public, or private high school prior to that season's first game.
Pass all academic courses to the administering parent or legal guardian’s full satisfaction and enforcement.
Not be or have been a member of any other school or homeschool organization’s team in the same sport during the current school year.
Not have been expelled or dismissed from any other school or homeschool organization’s academic or athletic program during the current or immediately preceding school year.
Be at least 11 years old and in 6th grade, and no older than 19 years old, on September 1 of the school year in which they desire to participate in a LSCHA program.
Designate their grade for athletic purposes prior to participating in any LSCHA program. (This grade classification will progress each school year and may not be modified regardless of athletes’ academic progress.)
Be of the gender designated by the Board for any given sport.
Have passed an annual sports physical examination, and submitted documentation evidencing such, completed and signed by the examining doctor, prior to the first LSCHA event of each school year.
Because many people define “homeschooled” differently, LSCHA provides the following guidelines to assist in determining eligibility to participate in LSCHA programs:
Students enrolled in public school, charter school, or full-time private school are not eligible.
Students enrolled dual-credit courses are eligible so long as they meet other criteria.
Students enrolled in private school or university model school for less than 50% of their academic courses, and who are not eligible to participate in such private or university model school’s athletic programs, are generally eligible so long as they meet other criteria.
Students enrolled in, or who utilize resources from, distance learning programs, independent instructors or tutors, educational co-ops, and online-based programs directed by a parent or legal guardian are generally eligible so long as they meet other criteria.
Exceptions to any eligibility requirement may be made only by approval of the LSCHA Board.
THIRD-PARTY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
From time to time, LSCHA teams may compete against teams or participate in events operated by third-parties that establish their own eligibility criteria. In the event a third-party’s eligibility criteria differ from LSCHA’s, it is possible the third-party may deem individual LSCHA athletes ineligible for specific games or events. While LSCHA desires for its athletes to participate in such events, LSCHA will always provide accurate information to and cooperate with all inquiries from such third-parties related to eligibility of LSCHA athletes.
